Stan The Man Lee snags the National Medal of Arts http://superherohype.com/news.php?id=7825 Thu, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:00 +0100 Preview Clip: ‘South Park’ To Spoof ‘Twilight’ http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/geeksofdoom/~3/457590885/ South Park could possibly top last week's genius take on the High School Musical craze, but it looks like they'll try again this week. Tomorrow night's episode will take a swing at another recent phenomenon -- Twilight, the best-selling teen vampire novel by Stephenie Meyer, the movie adaptation of which comes out on Friday.

In the new episode, "The Ungroundable," the Goth kids at South Park Elementary face powerful rivals. Butters is sure he's seen a vampire at school, but he can't get anyone to listen to him. Meanwhile, the Goth kids are angry and frustrated when the other kids can't tell the difference between a Goth and a Vampire.

The episode, airing at 10pm, marks this season's finale. You can watch a clip from it here [...]

[November 18th 2008]

CHRISTMAS SHOP NEWS

Like most sane people I don't want to hear the word "Christmas" before December 6th so I will keep this brief.

CHRISTMAS DELIVERY
If you want t-shirts and you're outside the USA, please play it safe and order by November 30th for Christmas delivery. We'll be reordering all the time and working flat-out to fulfill holiday orders.

AN IMPORTANT NOTE FOR AMERICAN CUSTOMERS
Britain's beloved currency, the pound sterling, has dropped a lot in value over the last few weeks. In the summer you got two dollars to the pound, now it is around $1.48, so if you're an American, my books, prints, custom prints, personalisations and commission rates are now at a sensible level once more. T-shirt prices are fixed at $19 because they are made in and shipped out of the USA.

END OF LINE ITEMS
There are about 20 copies of Skellington left. I have five Nautique prints left. I've not been able to order more Heavy Metal Hearts and Flowers books and we only have a handful left .

CHARACTER DRAWINGS
I don't have time for a lot of commission work but please get in touch if you're interested in a Scary Go Round character sketch as a gift for someone. First come, first served.

ASK ME ABOUT UNICORNS

Thought Bubble in Leeds was a fun-packed thrill-fest, without doubt the best-run and friendliest convention I have exhibited at in this country. Near to the streets upon which I was raised, I felt strong like a lion. And a lion's strength was useful as all I had for lunch was a bag of Hula Hoops. Thank you to all the readers who came out to see me, and to all the people who has never heard of me but picked up something anyway, and to all the sweet, innocent young things who bought all my (heretofore unsellable) "ask me about unicorns" badges.

And what larks, Pip, I had with Adam Cadwell and Marc Ellerby and Lizz Lunney and wasn't that Liz Greenfield and so on and so forth. The good eggs of the scene.

More news soon but my whole body has failed me following a very long day so I am just going to wrap my head in vinegar and brown paper and give up.

UPCOMING APPEARANCES

Saturday March 28th 2009, UK Thing, London, UK.

New Trailer: ‘Race To Witch Mountain’ http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/geeksofdoom/~3/457441820/ Race To Witch Mountain. The movie stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as a cab driver who finds out some sibling customers of his are a little different. He finds out that the kids are actually alien life-forms who need to get to Witch Mountain to find their ship before some crazy bounty hunter dude finds them. Carla Gugino (Sin City), AnnaSophia Robb (Bridge to Terabithia), Alexander Ludwig (The Seeker: The Dark is Rising), and Ciarán Hinds (Munich) also star. Footage shown at the San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year had a lot of people surprised, which lead to a lot of positive buzz. The trailer looks like fun, but nothing insanely unique or eye-grabbing -- it is a remake after all [...]

Marvel To Develop Animated ‘Thor’ Cartoon http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/geeksofdoom/~3/457127065/ Eric Rollman, is to release an animated series behind the live-action movies that they release -- this is now confirmed for the upcoming live-action film version of Thor.

The series will consist of 26 episodes that run 30 minutes each. These will be released in Fall of 2010.

Here's the premise for this animated series...

The animated series will follow Thor, the Norse god of thunder, as he defends his mythical home of Asgard against fantastical villains, fiendish hordes, winged creatures and angry giants. The show will take place in various worlds -- from mountainous landscapes to places of icy mists and fiery voids -- and will include many of the comic's supporting cast, including Balder the Brave, the Warriors Three and Thor's evil adopted brother, Loki.
